Me as a Charles Dickens’ character

I seem to have a penchant for having striking similarities with some notable characters in the wide, wide realm of literature – not only English but a lot of other traditions too…. German, Russian, Arabic and Persian to say the least. I will, in future ,expand on the theme but for the present, I will confine myself to one of Charles Dickens’ most well-known creations.

Given some recent events and my role in them, I can, quite justificably, like Sydney Carton (paraphasing it slightly off course) say: “It is a far, far better thing that I did, than I have ever done….”

However, unlike Carton, I will close the sentence there only since for good or bad, I have to stay and endure here only and cannot aspire to the higher state he envisages and is his right by all his actions – to which my own attempts do not even invite comparison. But I did whatever I could, without any regard for the consequences or the cost.

Sometime in the future, I hope to reveal the whole truth of this particular episode but till then…..

(For those who did not recognise Mr Carton or have never come across these words, I have nothing but… well, advice to brush up on their reading.)
