A poem of Habib Jalib

I was under the impression that I had already presented this famous and excellent diatribe/Main is ghalat-fahmi mein tha ke main yeh mukhalifat ka behtareen namoona pesh kar chuka hoon. Khair der sahi….
The work of celebrated satirist Habib Jalib, it was written as a hard-hitting protest though in measured rhythm against the praise of the new constitution promulgated by President Ayub Khan. However, the engaing language can make it a universal hymn of protest against any sort of injustice or violation of rights, especially with that refrain, jo apna pehla mis’ra har band mein itne lajawaab tareeqe se badalta hai. Aap khud hi dekhen, huzoor-e-aala hazrat

Deep jis ka sirf mahllaat hi main jale,
Chand logon ki khushiyon ko le kar chale,
Wo jo saye main har maslihat ke pale;
Aise dastoor ko, Subh e benoor ko,
Main nahi maanta, Main nahi jaanta.

Main bhi kha’if nahin takhta e daar se,
Main bhi Mansoor hoon, keh do aghyaar se,
Kyun daraate ho zindaan ki divar se,
Zulm ki baat ko, Jahl ki raat ko,
Main nahi maanta, Main nahi jaanta.

Phool shaakhon pe khilnay lage tum kaho,
Jaam rindon ko milne lage tum kaho,
Chak seenon ke silne lage tum kaho,
Is khule jhoot ko, Zehn ki loot ko,
Main nahi maanta, Main nahi jaanta.

Tum ne loota hai sadiyon hamara sakun,
Ab na hum per chale ga tumhara fasun,
Chara gar main tumhe kis tara se kahun?
Tum naheen charaagar, koi maane magar,
Main nahi maanta, Main nahi jaanta.
