Another attempt at translation/Ek aur tarjume ki koshish

I was on a long trip on board public transport, and as usual, my mind was in its normal trip all over the place. Suddenly, it struck me to try to see how one of the most famous passages in English letters would come out in Urdu. I tried out an initial draft from the amount I remembered and it seemed worthwhile to try out the whole thing. So I did

It was a spontaneous effort to try out my simultaneous translation skills and I think it came out rather well. It could have been much better, of course, with a revision or two but that demands time… I may return to it if I remember. For the time being, see this version only.

Ho ke ya na ho – yehi woh sawaal hai
Agar zyada sharifana hai dimagh mein sahna
Is bedhangi qismat ke tir
Ya is masailon ke sagar ke khilaaf hathyar uthao
Aur mukhalifat se khatam kar do. Maren, soye
Aur nahi – and sone se kehen woh khatam kare
Woh dil ka dard aur woh hazaar pareshaniyan
Jo jism ke liye hain – yeh woh maqaam hai
Jis ke shiddat se dua karenge ham. Maren, soye
Soye, shayad khwab dekhen. Yehi to dikkat hai
Ke us qaza ki neend mein kya khwaab ham dekhen
Jab ham is jism ko utaar chuke hai
Jo hame rokta hai. Yehi woh cheez hai
Jo taveel-ul-umr ko ek hadsaa banata hai.
Kaun waqt ke korhe aur nakhre sahe
Woh zaalim ki ghaltian, maghrur ka ghamand,
Chah us pyar ki jo nafrat ban gaya, qanun ki takhir,
Mansab ki be-izzati, aur woh begumani
Jo ek ba-sabr qabiliyat ek na-qaabil ki hoti hai
Jab woh khud apne aap chain pa le
Ek nange khanjar se? Kaun uthaye bhar
Paseena bahaye ek thakane wali zindagu ke
Lekin qaza ke baad us cheez ka khauf
Woh undekha mulk jiske daaman se
Koi musafir nahi lauta hai, hame hairan karta hai
Aur majboor karta hai ke wohi masail sahe jo hai
Ke aur thame jinhe ham jaante bhi na ho?
Is qadr zameer hame buzdil banata hai
Aur lihaza iraade ka apna laazmi rang
Fikr ki halki chadar se dhak jaata hai
Aur buland khwaish ke bade mansube
Is tarah apni raah se hat jaate hai
Aur karname ka naam kho jaate hai.

Not bad… even if I may say so myself.
